Lodz University of Technology and Medical University of Lodz conduct various joint projects and research. The Rectors of both universities have decided to appreciate their mutual cooperation and announce a competition for the best publication prepared jointly by the researchers from the Lodz University of Technology and Medical University o Lodz in 2021.
The three-day IV Ice Swimming World Championships in Głogów have come to an end, where two bronze medals were won by students of Lodz University of Technology: Aleksandra Bednarek and Tomasz Józefiak, appointed to the national team.
This year's winners of the competition held by the Voivodeship Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Łódź are mostly representatives of Lodz University of Technology. In the seventh edition of the competition the committee awarded nine people, including four from the Faculty of Chemistry at TUL and one from the Faculty of Process and Environmental Engineering at TUL.
Over 1 500 places and two new majors are waiting for candidates for Master's studies at Lodz University of Technology. Admissions process begins on 31 January.
Lodz University of Technology can now be visited remotely thanks to a virtual tour available in Google Street View databases. The tour includes around 560 ground and bird's eye views. Lovers of picturesque panoramas are invited to take a sky walk, which can be done by taking a virtual walk around the spaces photographed from a drone.

Despite pandemic restrictions, we sometimes managed to meet face-to-face at university events, which after a long period of not seeing each other made everyone very happy. I have repeatedly expressed my wishes and, at the same time, my hidden desire to return to normal work, face-to-face education and to at least try to forget about the coronavirus threat as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the current situation does not make it possible to fulfil these wishes in full. The virus is still very aggressive, mutating and taking more lives.
A team of scientists headed by Prof. Tomasz Czyszanowski from the Institute of Physics, TUL, described the discovery of a new phenomenon involving the increase of optical power emitted by VCSEL lasers as a result of breaking their cylindrical symmetry. The latest issue of Nature Photonics recognizes the novelty and applicability of this discovery and dedicates to it an article from the News & Views series: "Asymmetry brings power boost".
Participation in “The Excellence Initiative- Research University” programme has so far given TUL an additional budget of PLN 6,5 million. The university subsidy has been increased by 2% of the tax subsidy. The finances obtained from the Ministry enabled the university authorities to introduce new activities to raise the research quality at TUL.
