About - Interdisciplinary Doctoral School

A TUL Interdisciplinary Doctoral School (IDS) is providing innovative and individualised doctoral training and offers multiple and unique prospects for development for doctoral candidates of all nationalities.


We welcome applications of university graduates holding a Master degree (or equivalent) from all over the world. There is no tuition fee for any participants.

The training program at IDS is composed of:


The doctoral training program lasts 4 years and in the middle of the training each doctoral candidates goes through the Midterm evaluation. Based on these results doctoral candidates either continues the training or is stops it.


Doctoral candidates can be fellows supported by grants of the supervisor or with external funding. All are subject to the same recruitment procedures.


IDS offers a doctoral programme in 12 disciplines within 4 scientific domains:

  • Control, Electronic and Electrical Engineering
  • Telecommunication and computer science
  • Transport and Civil engineering
  • Architecture and Urban planning
  • Chemical Engineering


  1.  Natural Sciences:
  • Chemical Sciences
  • Mathematics
  • Physical Sciences


  1. Agricultural Sciences:
  • Food Technology and Nutrition


  1.  Social sciences:
  • Management and Quality Sciences


By choosing IDS you receive a comprehensive training in the selected discipline but also you can choose from a number of elective courses from all available disciplines, visiting professor slectures and you will receive training in transferable skills allowing acquiring competences for early career researchers to work in different sectors, not only in academia and business.


The completion of training results in awarding a doctoral degree in the selected discipline. Each doctoral candidate at the IDS follows an training program and individual research plan which includes core curriculum scientific courses, elective courses, soft & transferrable courses and each takes part in mobility, visiting professors lectures, seminars and other events organised at TUL.


IDS offers fully funded training to all accepted candidates which means that IDS training is free of charge and financial support is offered to all interested individuals who pass the admission procedure. In addition IDS offers a motivational scholarships for the best candidates. IDS is open to individuals of all nationalities.
