The three-day IV Ice Swimming World Championships in Głogów have come to an end, where two bronze medals were won by students of Lodz University of Technology: Aleksandra Bednarek and Tomasz Józefiak, appointed to the national team.

Aleksandra Bednarek - a student of biomedical engineering at the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering, won a bronze medal in the 50-metre breaststroke in the 18-24 age category. The World Championship medallist is the winner of Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming.

Tomasz Józefiak - student of applied mathematics at the Faculty of Technical Physics, Information Technology and Applied Mathematics, won a bronze medal in the 50-metre backstroke in the 18-24 age category. He represents TUL at Polish Academic Championships in various disciplines: athletics, swimming, cross-country running, indoor rowing, and chess.

We are glad that we can represent Lodz University of Technology on the international arena and want to thank for the opportunity to combine studies with sport and private life - said the medallists from Lodz University of Technology, informing about their success.

Ice Swimming World Championships in Głogów were held over 10 distances, from 1 km to 50 metres. The water temperature in the Oder was 3 degrees of Celsius. More than 300 competitors from nearly 30 countries took part in the competition.
