Lodz University of Technology is successfully applying for funds under the European Commission's international research programmes. In the new budget perspective for 2021-2027, 44 applications have been submitted so far, of which 10 projects have been awarded funding and 8 more are awaiting evaluation.

The number of oncological patients is growing every year, and as a result, the need to develop effective anti-cancer drugs is increasing. A team of scientists from Lodz University of Technology, Medical Universities of Lodz and Lublin and the Centre of Molecular and Macromolecular Studies of Polish Academy of Sciences in Lodz are responding to this challenge. They designed, synthesized, and thoroughly studied the physicochemical and biological properties of two new compounds with potential anti-cancer effects. dr hab. inż. Thanks to the cooperation of TUL engineers, doctors from the Institute of the Polish Mother’s Health Centre and employees of Netrix S.A., the medical underwear project was created. This solution will allow a non-invasive, and therefore painless, diagnosis of children's urinary tract.

Researchers from Lodz University of Technology, together with medics, are developing an innovative method of treating it. Assoc. The Polish Patent Office has published the 2021 Report. Lodz University of Technology continues to rank second in Poland, with 121 domestic and foreign patents granted. The iLumen European Solar Challenge competition in Belgium at Circuit Zolder proved once again lucky for the students of Lodz Solar Team from Lodz University of Technology. The appearance of pathogenic nucleosides in mitochondrial RNA molecules can cause severe dysfunction of mitochondria, which are the energy centres of our cells. Their damage gives rise to symptoms of hypertension, type 2 diabetes and Leber hereditary neuropathy of the optic nerve (LHON). Researchers at the Faculty of Chemistry of Lodz University of Technology, under the direction of Assoc. Prof. Grazyna Leszczynska, are looking to identify the cause of these dysfunctions at the molecular level.
New computational tools based on the DMRG (density matrix renormalization group) method will be created at the Institute of Physics of Lodz University of Technology in cooperation with scientists from the Czech Academy of Sciences, within the framework of the OPUS LAP project funded by the National Science Centre and the Czech Science Foundation.
