Bengi Yilmaz will work in the biomaterials and polymers team led by the director of ICRI-BioM, Vignesh Kumaravel, PhD. ICRI-BioM is a unit known for the innovative use of functional nanomaterials. Scientists from TUL assume that the cooperation will allow the applicant to expand her research horizons and contribute to further development in biomedical research.

Dr Yilmaz aspires to become an independent researcher in the field of biomaterials and tissue engineering, with a particular emphasis on developing innovative solutions for repairing hard tissue damage and related tissues, such as cartilage, tendon or periodontal. Participation in this programme will be a catalyst for the applicant's future career - explains Prof. Kumaravel.

In the second year of her stay, Dr Yilmaz wants to apply for NCN and ERC grants to conduct innovative research on three-dimensional printing of cell-loaded hybrid scaffolds based on hydrogel, for use in bone tissue engineering. - These grants would not only allow the applicant to create national and international joint projects, but also support cooperation with local and EU healthcare companies, ultimately contributing to the translation of her research into clinical applications - says Prof. Piotr Paneth, director for research at ICRI-BioM.

The aim of the Stanisław Ulam programme is to increase the degree of internationalization of Polish universities and scientific institutions. The program allows both recognized and promising scientists, with at least a doctoral degree, to come to Poland, who will strengthen the scientific potential of Polish units and engage in their scientific activities, primarily research projects and teaching.
