Students majoring in Information Technology at the Faculty of Technical Physics, Information Technology and Applied Mathematics (FTiMS) within IFE programme, took 1st place in this year's Hacathon, a competition jointly organized by the Career Offices at the following Lodz universities: Medical University of Lodz (UMed) ,TUL, and the University of Lodz (UŁ).

The grand finale of the event and the presentation of the teams' projects took place on May 28. Participants presented their innovative solutions to the jury, mentors and the participants.

The highest rating by the jury was given to the SwiftBoard - an idea from a team of TUL computer science students: Bartosz Nowacki, Stanislaw Marciniak, Wojciech Mokwiński, and Krzysztof Muszyński, who created an onboarding platform for a virtual assistant using GPT-3/4 chat. They received the main prize of PLN 10,000 for their innovative solution.

Second place went to a team of students from UMed. The third was the inter-university team WeKnowIT, which included representatives of the TUL Faculty of FTIMS Maria Wichrowska and Dominik Kozłowski, as well as Krystian Kręcik - University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, Mikołaj Gwardys - Medical University of Lodz, Jan Karolewski - Wroclaw University of Economics. Their challenge was to prepare a solution that would allow the doctor to focus more and devote more time to the patient, and minimize the amount of time the doctor has to spend on entering visit and recommendation data into the system.

According to the organizers, this year's event was very popular: We received more than 150 applications from different parts of Poland and the world. As many as 14 teams qualified for the Hackathon in the end and accepted the challenges of the companies. During the first online day, participants had the opportunity to learn about the profiles of companies, cultural and educational offerings of Lodz.
