Task description:
Work in the NCN Opus project: "New Bottle-Brush copolymers, and osteoarthritis "

The specific aim of the proposed study is the determination of the relationship between the structure of articular cartilage and the degree of development of osteoarthritis. That will allow to know the mechanism of the articular cartilage degeneration and to diagnose the disease at the early stages.

As part of the project, PhD student will study of cartilages at different level of osteoarthrosis disease by vibrational spectroscopy (Raman, IR spectroscopies). The aims of the study are

  • to find correlation between the chemical composition of the cartilage surface and degeneration disease degree.
  • develop reasonable diagnostic procedures based on vibrational spectroscopy useful to control osteoarthrosis disease.

Within this part of the project PhD student will be involved in following activities:

  • preparation of cartilage samples for spectroscopic studies
  • measurements of vibrational spectra of cartilage samples
  • analysis and interpretation of the results including statistical approach.

PhD student will be also obliged to prepare monthly reports and scientific publications based on the results of the conducted research. PhD student will be involved in the project on average 40 hours per week.

Additional information:

1. The call is open.

2. The recruitment committee will interview candidates (teleconference is an option), that will take place after the application deadline. Candidates will be individually informed about the results of the first stage of recruitment and the date of interviews.
