The President of the Republic of Poland has awarded the title of professor to two researchers from Lodz University of Technology.

Prof. Jacek Sawicki of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering specializes in materials engineering. He has developed a number of innovative technologies that have implementation potential, for which he received an honorary badge of merit from the President of the Council of Ministers. He is engaged in two Lodz University of Technology spinoffs: Hart-Tech, a company that deals in advanced heat and thermo-chemical treatment technologies, and C CUBE P.S.A., whose core business is non-destructive testing (NDT) of composite materials.

Prof. Irena Wasiak of the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering conducts research related to, among others, power grid element modeling, the effects of RES on the grid, improvement of the quality and reliability of electric power supply to consumers. Through her participation in European projects, the Distributed Generation Laboratory, a pioneering, state-of-the-art research facility, was established at the Institute of Electrical Power Engineering. Prof. Wasiak's leisurely pursuits include traveling, classical music and theater. She also enjoys working and relaxing in her garden.
