As many as 7 winning projects promoting science in the area of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) were submitted to the competition of Academic Lodz by students and secondary school students of Lodz University of Technology.

At the beginning of February, the results of the grant competition 'Academic Lodz - scientific, creative and multicultural 2023' were announced. Funding was awarded to 18 projects. The presentation of the two winning entries took place (16.02) at Lodz University of Technology in the TUL students garage from the 'Automotive enthusiasts' scientific circle:

  • Iron Warriors in two versions - an electric Eco Arrow 2 and a combustion Eco Arrow 3 - funding for the Iron Warriors team's participation in the Shell Eco-marathon international competition and the Albi Eco Race - PLN 15,500,

  • Organisation of the final of the F1 in Schools Poland competition in Lodz - Academya Foundation - PLN 24,498.

F1 in Schools Poland will be the first ever Polish edition of an international competition under the official patronage of Formula 1. It is also the world's largest competition for young people in the STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) area. F1 in Schools has been running for 20 years in more than 50 countries. Thanks to the support of sponsors, partners and the City of Lodz, it will also take place in Poland.

The first Polish final will take place on 14 May at the Sports Bay at TUL. The winning teams will receive a pass to the world finals, which are scheduled for September 2023 in Singapore. Currently, 26 teams from all over Poland, aged 11-19, are preparing to participate in the finals.

The other awarded projects from TUL are:

  • GUST - Generative Urban Small Turbine - participation in the International Student Wind Turbine Challenge in the Netherlands - informal group - GUST Project - PLN 17,298.
  • Lodz IT Days 2023 - Lodz University of Technology Foundation - PLN 18,999
  • Raptors Team - participation in the CIRC 2023 Martian rover competition - informal group - SKaNeR Scientific Circle of Robotics - PLN 17,505
  • In the clouds with numbers is a project submitted by the Newton Room Aviation group associated with the TUL Public Secondary School, which will receive funding in the amount of - PLN 21,582.
  • The Team Computer Game Development Competition will have its 15th edition in 2023. It is accompanied by the slogan Gamedev is born in Lodz, and the event will receive funding of - PLN 22,500.
