Lodz University of Technology and Australian Curtin University in Perth have (14.02) concluded an agreement, which is the first step towards cooperation. The partnership is the result of talks between the authorities of the two academic centres, which began during Expo 2020 in Dubai where the rector of TUL travelled at the invitation of the Marshal.

Due to the very long distance between the partners, the ceremony was held remotely via Internet. The document was signed by the Rector, Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik and the Marshal of the Łódź Voivodeship, Grzegorz Schreiber. On the other side of the globe, the document was signed by Prof. Seth Kunin, Deputy Vice Chancellor Global responsible for international cooperation of Curtin University who was accompanied by Prof. John Evans, Pro Vice-Chancellor and President, Curtin University Dubai.

Curtin University educates more than 50,000 students, employs more than 3,000 academic staff and has a highly developed international cooperation with institutions and universities in 30 countries around the world. It is among the top 1 per cent of universities in the world.

The university with which we have concluded an agreement is known for its strong links with industry, conducting research and implementing technological innovations for the needs of the economy, as well as its wide range of innovative courses. Undoubtedly, it will be a very good support for increasing the innovativeness of both Lodz University of Technology and the entire Łódź region,' – said the rector, Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik.

The first projects under the ERASMUS+ programme are already being planned as a platform for transferring good practices and combining the scientific and teaching potentials of both universities.

We are also talking about taking joint action on sustainable development, in this area Curtin University is an important centre, and the affiliation of Lodz University of Technology to the Baltic University provides opportunities to build cooperation in this area – says the rector of TUL about the plans for cooperation.
