- We are convinced that the diversity of Lodz public universities shaped over decades, strengthened by the multicultural traditions of Lodz, is not in contradiction, but is the strongest foundation of the unity that we intend to build together as part of the Lodz Academic Partnership (ŁPA) - this is a fragment of the declaration signed (29.11) by the rectors of Lodz public universities at the University of Music.

Cooperation between universities in Lodz has a long tradition, but now after signing the "Declaration on strengthening cooperation between Lodz public universities as part of the Lodz Academic Partnership", joint activities will take on a more formal character, while maintaining the distinctiveness and uniqueness of universities.

In the declaration of the ŁPA we are talking about close cooperation, about joint ventures, awards, celebrations, such as the inauguration of the academic year, a joint Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland organized in Lodz, as a community event, and not in one limited to one university. However, in these initiatives we do not violate the distinctiveness and autonomy of individual universities - explains Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, Rector of Lodz University of Technology, chairman of the Conference of Rectors of Lodz Public Universities. - There are many areas for joint action, but it is up to us to exploit them. As rectors, we concluded that it is high time for joint actions. Now it is necessary to translate these assumptions into cooperation of the entire academic community of Lodz - he adds.

As we read in the declaration: Partnership cooperation covers the most important missions of Lodz universities: scientific and artistic activities, education and relations with the socio-economic environment.

The meeting of the rectors of Lodz was an opportunity to debate future cooperation, the first pillar of which within the ŁPA is science, joint research and projects. Interdisciplinary education was also discussed. Soon we can expect common solutions in the field of education. The rectors also expressed their expectations regarding cooperation with the environment, both business, social and cultural, as well as the need for support in various activities by local authorities.

In the signed document, all Lodz rectors: Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik (TUL), Prof. Elżbieta Żądzińska (UŁ), Prof. Radzisław Kordek (MUL), Dr. Przemysław Wachowski (Academy of Fine Arts), Dr. Elżbieta Aleksandrowicz, Prof. at the University of Music, Dr. hab. Milenia Fiedler, Professor of the Film School, they declared consistent strengthening of cooperation between universities, for the benefit of the academic community, as well as the city, the province and all current and potential partners in the country and abroad.
