During the ceremonial opening of the conference (10.02), with the participation of the Rector of Lodz University of Technology, Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik, in the Alchemium Hall of Lodz University of Technology, the inaugural lecture entitled Mathematics, artificial intelligence and brains, was given by Prof. Wodzisław Duch from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun.

We want to present the university as a nice place to study with attractive fields of study. We want to show that TUL is an open, friendly university with competent staff. In addition, we want to point out the differences between our expectations in the field of mathematical skills and the real capabilities of students - says the Vice-Dean of the EEIA Faculty. Doctor Jacek Stando adds: - On Friday, Prof. Paryjczak's auditorium at Alchemium will be the place in the world where there will be the largest number of mathematic teachers per one square meter.

During the conference, the organizers want to start discussions on mathematics education. - We would like to let teachers know what we think is missing in mathematics lessons and what competences we expect from students. And vice versa, we would like our teachers to have knowledge of what is happening in the area of mathematics at earlier stages of education, because sometimes it seems to me that there are big discrepancies, says Professor Ewa Korzeniewska.

In addition, in September, representatives of the centres on which the mathematics curriculum and the requirements for each exam, including the Matura exam, depend will come to Lodz University of Technology for another conference, from, among others, the Regional Examinations Board and the Central Examinations Board

The Manufaktura Mathematical Conference is held under the patronage of the Rector of Lodz University of Technology, Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik.
