By joining a large European consortium, Lodz University of Technology is joining the initiative to create a pan-European training network. It will support the European construction sector, a significant emitter of greenhouse gases. "I am pleased that this is another partnership that proves our actions related to the implementation of the European Green Deal in the circular bioeconomy

- said the Rector of Lodz University of Technology, Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik.

The consortium includes academic units, research centers, public bodies, and European networks. The grant leader is Slovenia (Slovenian University of Primorska). The grant coordinator at Lodz University of Technology is Assoc. Prof. Aneta Kępczyńska-Walczak, from the Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning.

Thanks to its diverse specialist knowledge throughout the EU, the NEBA Alliance will address gaps in qualifications in the sustainable construction sector and issues related to the circular economy, as well as create better employment opportunities at the regional and national level, while promoting high quality in construction. The NEB Academy is a flagship initiative of The European Year of Skills, which will accelerate the upgrading and changing of qualifications in the construction ecosystem. It emphasizes the importance of training and lifelong learning in order to develop the necessary skills, including in the context of the ecological and digital transformation in the construction sector. As part of the grant implementation, model competence centers will be created, among other things.

- explains Prof. Aneta Kępczyńska-Walczak, who works at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture, and Environmental Engineering at TUL.

Through a network of centers with existing educational and training facilities, the Academy will provide consistent and accessible online and on-site training in Europe and will promote interregional exchange of skills and best practices, we read on the project's website.
