On Tuesday, 14 February, at the Rector's Office of Lodz University of Technology, the City of Lodz officially became a member of the Lodz Energy Wave Cluster. The participation of the new partner offers great opportunities to implement, on a wider scale, innovations aimed at reducing the impact of the energy crisis in the resources managed by the city.

The agreement to join Energy Wave was signed by representatives of the Cluster Committee: Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwik - Rector of TUL, Prof. Sławomir Wiak - Chairman of the Cluster Council and representatives of Veolia Energia Lodz: Anna Kędziora - Szwagrzak - President of the Board and Adrian Sienicki - Member of the Board. On the part of the City of Lodz, the signatory to the agreement was the First Vice-President - Adam Pustelnik.

Cooperation between scientific, R&D institutions and companies creates opportunities for effective commercialisation of projects and research and scientific undertakings with market potential, as well as their subsequent implementation with contractors and investors.

For the Lodz Energy Wave Cluster, the accession of the City of Lodz to its membership is a unique moment. The cooperation of local entities - both public and private - will make it possible to build a space for joint projects using local energy resources. This will improve the efficiency of energy and district heating management in the city.

Participation in the Cluster of the City of Lodz - which has in its resources, among others, a number of municipal buildings, both residential and public utility: schools, hospitals - provides a great opportunity for the implementation of innovations aimed at reducing the impact of the energy crisis on everyday activities and improving the energy efficiency of managed facilities, equipment and installations on a larger scale. It also creates greater opportunities to secure Lodz's energy needs and to use innovative energy sources, including RES. It is also an important element of educational and informational activities for the public, showing how important it is to diversify energy sources and improve the local environment, including air quality.

In 2019, Lodz University of Technology, together with Veolia Energia Lodz, the Institute of Mineral and Energy Economy of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Aquapark Lodz, established the Lodz Energy Wave Cluster. The main directions of the Cluster's activities include, among others, cooperation on the development of energy efficiency in the distribution of generated energy and heat, increasing the use of renewable energy sources, engaging in projects related to the reduction of low emissions and the development of distributed energy and increasing the awareness of society in terms of pro-ecological attitudes.
