High school students from different corners of Poland who share a keen albeit general interest in fashion and textile-clothing topics took part in the National Young Fashion Design National TEXTIL2024 seminar at Lodz University of Technology. They visited the Faculty of Material Technologies and Textile Design bringing along a large number of well thought-through and mature design competition works.

The pieces came in forms galore: collections presented on the catwalk by models, displayed on mannequins, as well as multimedia presentations. The seminar, offered within a tried and tested formula, included CREATIVE WORKSHOPS. They enjoy great attendance, and additionally provide the participants with the opportunity to tour the Faculty and learn about the ongoing research projects.

The seminar is an integral part of the Festival of Science, Technology and the Arts, which annually draws in a few hundred high school students. The high number of attendees serves to confirm how meaningful and how successful the undertaking that has been organized for the 21st time this year is.

TEXTIL 2024 seminar is intended as a networking platform between the University and its prospective students by offering them the following:

  • the opportunity to get an idea of what the university educational offering is, especially as regards the Faculty whose other specialization is industrial design,
  • attractive workshop activities to get hands-on experience,
  • a platform to showcase their own creativity and present their projects, which contributes to the development of their skills and stimulates their creative thinking,
  • the opportunity to learn about Łódź and the city's cultural offerings to inspire prospective students.

The winning piece in the Competition for the Presentation of Clothing Collections on Models was 'Ocean Opulence' by Nikola Mrówczyńska from the Vocational and Continuing Education Center in Dąbrowa Górnicza.

The second prize was awarded to the collection 'Night Stars' by Wojciech Salamon from the Technical School of Fashion Industry of the Bolesław Barbacki Schools No. 3 in Nowy Sącz, while the third prize was awarded for the work called 'In the Country of Cherry Blossom' created by a collective of students from the Technical School No. 7 of the Center for Vocational and Continuing Education in Sosnowiec.

Apart from the diplomas and prizes for the winners, also awarded the competition were honorable mentions and a special prize for the Bolesław Barbacki Schools No. 3 in Nowy Sącz for their contribution and creativity in the design and execution of many clothing collections.
