Professor Tomasz Olejnik

He is an alumnus of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, from which he graduated in 1987, having completed a specialization in cars and tractors. He completed his doctoral and postdoctoral degrees in at the Faculty of Process and Environmental Engineering, in 1999 and in 2014 respectively. His postoctoral degree was awarded in the discipline of Chemical Engineering.  Currently, he works at the TUL Department of Sugar Industry and Food Safety Management.

Professor Olejnik's research interests encompass problems of modeling of unit processes related to mineral raw materials and food products, as well as issues of technological process optimization, including improving energy efficiency and potential for utilizing secondary raw materials and their conversion into full value products.

The Professor's scholarly output comprises more than 200 original creative works, including: monographs and books, nearly 40 papers in high-impact journals, dozens of articles in Polish journals not listed on the ISI Master journal list, has been granted 60 patents and has filed numerous patent applications.

Prof. Tomasz Olejnik has successfully supervised 9 doctoral dissertations, six of them within the first edition of the implementation doctorate framework. He has authored or co-authored a large number of industrial implementations for companies such as Mysak Trade, Mysak Group, Nordkalk Poland, Trojanka, KGS.
He is a member of scores of expert bodies, among them: NAWA, CEEPUS, Visegrad Fund, and FRSE. He has completed over a dozen of research and teaching grants, both as a grant manager and principal investigator.

Privately, the Professor is a Mercedes Benz afficionado and he loves cats.

Professor Robert Klewicki

He graduated with a degree in Chemical Technology from the Faculty of Food Chemistry and Biotechnology (now BiNoŻ). He then pursued doctoral studies at TUL. He received his PhD in Technical Sciences in 1997, followed by a postdoctoral degree in the discipline of Chemical Technology in 2010. He works at the Institute of Food Technology and Analysis.
Professor Robert Klewicki's research activity is associated with two topics. The first is the synthesis of compounds based on polyhydroxy alcohols or hydroxy acids involving transglycosylation, and synthesis and study of the properties, including health-promoting properties, of such substances.

The second area of research interests is The second area of interest is osmoconcentration of plant material and changes in the properties of the raw material. In particular, the data concerning the migration of bioactive compounds, mainly polyphenols. He has proposed a novel concept of using lipase as a pretreatment agent before osmoconcentration of fruits that are difficult to dehydrate due to the protective layer of lipids on the peel surface.

Professor Robert Klewicki's output comprises over 150 research publications, including over 40 JCR-listed papers. According to the Web of Science, the professor's articles have been cited nearly 500 times, and his h-index value is 14. He has successfully supervised 4 PhD candidates. He is a member of the Polish Society of Food Technologists.

He has participated in ten research grants, including two EU-funded ones. In one of them, he was a task lead for the task 'Evaluation of quality of investigated products in relation to raw material, processing and shelf-life conditions'. The project was carried out by a consortium that included institutes from over a dozen countries in Europe, the US, and New Zealand. He mainly collaborated with the researchers from France.

Professor Klewicki enjoys hiking, music and is interested in the history of the interwar period.
