140 high school students took part in the Maths Physics and Chemistry Week The annual event opened on Monday, September 11, at 2:15 pm at the Professor Tadeusz Paryjczak auditorium in the Alchemium Building.

That the event was held on the premises of the Faculty of Chemistry did not simply result from the stately character of the venue. As dr inż. Agnieszka Niedziałkowska of the Center of Mathematics and Physics (CMF), which organized the annual workshops, pointed out, ‘The workshops, held annually since 2010, used to be called  ‘Maths and Physics Week’ after the two subjects explored by the participating students. With each passing year, they have grown and expanded to include, this year, chemistry.’

Students attending schools that are under the CMF patronage program participated in the activities held at Lodz University of Technology throughout the week that ended on September 15th.

TUL CMF lecturers, in cooperation with the Institute of Physics of the Faculty of Technical Physics, Information Technology and Applied Mathematics, the Faculty of Chemistry, the Faculty of Process and Environmental Engineering, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and the Faculty of Organization and Management, organized the activities for the participants who hailed from the High School of Poddębice, the 1st High School of Tomaszów Mazowiecki, the 2nd High School of Wieluń, and the 1st High School of Sieradz.

The young learners, who stayed at the TUL student dormitories, took part in workshops, laboratories, seminars, and lectures in mathematics, physics, and chemistry. They also visited the LabFactor, one of the most advanced instructional facilities in Poland.

Dr. inż. Agnieszka Niedziałkowska said, 'We wish to encourage students to study at Lodz University of Technology. We want to give them an opportunity to experience what it is like to be a student. The fact that there have been so many editions of the Week proves that the offering enjoys a great deal of interest among students.
I wish to thank all those who helped in the preparation of the Maths Physics and Chemistry Week. Thank you for kind words and support in putting this enterprise together for 140 high-school students!’.
