Dr. Eng. Marcin Cichy from the Faculty of Organization and Management of the Lodz University of Technology received the first prize in the 15th competition of the Committee of Organization and Management Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the best scientific work 2021-2022, in the doctoral theses category.

Marcin Cichy specializes in strategic management, market analysis and its competitiveness, as well as in sector regulations. The last two areas of the laureate's scientific interests were the starting point for the preparation of his doctoral dissertation entitled "The role of the regulator in shaping co-opetition relations on the Polish telecommunications market".

As the author of the award-winning dissertation explains

The subject of the work is impact analysis of the regulator of the electronic communications market on the cooperation of telecommunications entrepreneurs in 4 areas: quality of services, access to infrastructure, radio frequencies and co-investment. Qualitative research was based, among others, on: interviews with managers and market experts, and analysis and conclusions on game theory, i.e. on the concept of a positive-sum game according to the assumptions of Adam M. Brandenburger and Barry J. Nalebuff.


The PhD supervisor was prof.  Agnieszka Zakrzewska-Bielawska from TUL and the reviewers were prof. dr h.c. Ewa Stańczyk-Hugiet from the Wrocław University of Economics and prof. dr h.c. Wojciech Czakon from the Jagiellonian University.

It is worth adding that in the years 2016-2020 Marcin Cichy was the President of the Office of Electronic Communications, and currently combines work at the university with consulting activities in the TMT sector
