The awarded work of dr inż. Anna Kaczmarek concerns the research on coatings of new generation of medical implants made of diamond-like carbon, modified with silicon and titanium. Thanks to the use of magnetron atomization of admixtures, the desired biofunctionality of the implants was obtained. Innovative, multifunctional carbon coatings can be particularly useful for orthopaedic and cardiovascular implants.
The doctoral dissertation was written under the supervision of the supervisor Prof. Piotr Niedzielski and an assistant supervisor, dr inż. Dorota Bociąga.
Anna Kaczmarek graduated from two fields of study at Lodz University of Technology: biomedical engineering at the International Faculty of Engineering (first cycle studies) and material engineering with a specialization in biomaterials engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (second cycle studies).
