High position of TUL in the ranking of universities of the so-called New Europe



On Wednesday, December 9th, Perspektywy published the results of the EngiRank (European Ranking of Engineering Programs), which classifies 81 universities (the so-called institutional ranking) and the engineering programs implemented by them (rankings by subject).  Lodz University of Technology was ranked high in these rankings.

 

The EngiRank includes 13 countries of the so-called New Europe, i.e. those that joined the European Union in 2004 and later. The evaluation of the university is based on 15 indicators related to scientific effectiveness, innovation, quality of education, prestige and internationalization, the most important activities of the university.

 

The institutional ranking includes 81 universities. Lodz University of Technology and Wroclaw University of Technology took the sixth place ex aequo. The podium places were taken by the Warsaw University of Technology, AGH University of Science and Technology and University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague. In the top twenty there were 9 Polish universities in total.

 

Parallel to the main ranking, there were also 7 rankings in the main disciplines of Engineering & Technology. Lodz University of Technology took top positions in 3 cases.

 

In the field of Electrical, Electronic & Information Engineering programs, Lodz University of Technology was ranked 3rd in Europe and 1st in Poland ex aequo with the Military University of Technology in Warsaw.

 

Lodz University of Technology was equally highly ranked in Civil Engineering  discipline - 3rd in Europe and 2nd in Poland.

 

In Medical Engineering - Lodz University of Technology takes 5th place in Europe and 3rd place in Poland.

 

The ranking was initiated by the Educational Foundation "Perspektywy". The main partner is the Foundation for the Development of the Education System (FRSE), and the supporting partner is IREG Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence. The mission of the ranking is to fill the gap in terms of up-to-date and reliable information about technical studies in Europe.
