Doctoral candidates of the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School of TUL toured Proteon Pharmaceuticals. The study visit was one of the actions included in the HR Excellence in Research action plan.

For close to 15 years, the company has been specializing in research on bacteriophage application towards sustainability goals by coming up with superior feed additives.

The doctoral candidates had the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of operating in cutting-edge laboratories, which was quite invaluable experience and allowed them to advance their knowledge in chemistry and biotechnology. Interaction with industry professionals offered the young researchers precious insight and future prospects.

Representatives of the company demonstrated the bacteriophage production process and the mechanism behind the products offered by the company. The importance of taking advantage of the innovative approaches to industrial livestock breeding was strongly asserted during the presentation.

The visit could serve as a model of successful interaction between science and biotech industry and was certainly mutually inspiring.
