TUL student Ola Bednarek wins the world championship in winter swimming



The new year started off with a major success for Aleksandra Bednarek, a student at Lodz University of Technology. She won seven medals in winter swimming in the World Cup in China and six during the World Championships in Slovenia just closed on February 9th.

In China, Ola Bednarek participated in the International Winter Swimming Association World Cup held on January 11th-12th in Jinan as well as in the preceding competition, the 6th China International Winter Swimming Festival on the Grand Canal in Taierzhuang, where she had won a gold medal in the 50m breaststroke and two silver medals in the 4×50m freestyle and 4×5m medley relays.

 

In the Jinan World Cup, the student of Lodz University of Technology won three gold medals in the 25m, 50m and 100m breaststroke and a bronze medal in the 25m, 50m and 300m freestyle.

 

Aleksandra Bednarek studentka PŁ z medalami MŚ w SłoweniiDuring the World Championships in Bled, Slovenia (February 3rd-9th) she claimed two World Champion titles: in the 100m and 200m breaststroke, two silver medals: in the 50m breaststroke and 200m freestyle, and two bronze medals: in the 25m breaststroke and 4x25 breaststroke relay.

 

As communicated by Ola Bednarek, her results for the 100 and 200m breaststroke are the new - although still unofficial, world records.

 

Ola is a 3rd-year Biomedical Engineering student at the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering, Lodz University of Technology. Open water swimming is her extra-curricular pursuit.
