This year, for the first time, Lodz University of Technology, as one of three Polish universities of technology, has been ranked in the RUR (Round University Ranking) World University Rankings.

The ranking is based on 20 criteria grouped into 4 categories: teaching, research, international diversity, and financial sustainability. TUL achieved the best result - 559th place, in the first category – education.

Harvard University opens the 2020 ranking list. The top ten also includes 4 other American universities, 4 British universities, and the ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology).

This year, the performance of 829 universities from 70 countries, including 6 Polish universities was rated. In the general classification, the best Polish universities are the University of Warsaw (389th), and the Jagiellonian University (392th). The remaining four: Warsaw University of Technology, Gdańsk University of Technology, Łódź University of Technology, and the University of Łódź, are classified between 500 - 700 ranks.

RUR World University Rankings was established in 2013, even though the first ranking had been carried out in 2010.
