Research projects carried out at the Faculty have brought about advanced solutions that have been applied in many sectors of the economy and contributed to the improvement of the quality of the environment. Researchers have developed Research projects completed at the Faculty address problems encountered in industry, for example, 'Innovative biodeodorizer for poultry processing facilities'. The scope of the project includes, among others, characterization of microbiological and chemical hazards associated with poultry farming, and determination of the impact of selected odorants/aroma compounds found at livestock housing. Another aim of the project is to the determine the composition of the growth medium and conditions of the bacteria strains that the biopreparation consists of, to develop its form, its mineral and biological content. Projects concerned with biomass constitute an important area of the Faculty's research. Scholars have been working on "Waste biomass conversion by way of combined biological and chemical processes". They have been focusing their efforts on the development of a model system of continuous conversion of food industry and agriculture waste biomass into value- added products: chemicals, biofuel, energy. The research is innovative in that it weds biogas installations, distilleries, algae farms, fertilizer plants, sugar refineries and modern solutions provided by chemical and biotechnological engineering. The project is expected to have a positive impact on the efficiency of waste management. Once implemented into industrial practice, the developed solution will result in a reduction of pollutants released into the environment, and protection of the natural environment.
The latest major research projects
'Synbiotic preparation promoting health of monogastric animals, preventing bacterial diseases and poisoning caused by toxins, and improving feed safety and productivity of livestock farming'. Its use, apart from the objectives established in the title, also increases safety of meat products. The preparation, the way its manufactured, and its use are entirely safe and environment friendly.
