In the 2020 ranking of higher education institutions performed by educational magazine Perspektywy, Lodz University of Technology is ranked 4th among universities of technology and 8th among all HEIs in Poland. The Ministry of Science and Higher Education reported TUL to be the 5th most frequently selected University.
The University is also proud to be one of 14 Polish universities to be included in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, being one of the most valued international rankings. The University also took part in the classification conducted by the QS World University Ranking. It was also classified in the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP), the US News Best Global Universities Rankings, the CWTS Leiden Ranking.
In 2018, it was also among 10 Polish universities which in the coming years have a chance to be classified in the Shanghai Ranking (ARWU World Top Candidates).
In 2016, the University was awarded, as the first university of technology in Poland, the HR Excellence in Research badge which certifies that the University follows the principles laid down in the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. The benefit of this badge is improved recognizability and attractiveness of the University as a project partner in the European Research Area. In January 2019, the European Commission extended TUL certification for HR Excellence in Research.
