The prestigious ranking of the world's best universities, QS World University Ranking (QS WUR), includes 16 Polish universities this year. The Jagiellonian University turned out to be the best among Polish universities and ranked 338th in the ranking.
The top three places in the ranking are traditionally held by American universities: the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Stanford University, and Harvard University. Lodz University of Technology, alongside 12 other Polish universities (e.g. Gdansk University of Technology, AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow and Wroclaw University of Technology) ranked 801-1000.
The QS World University Ranking, along with the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU, the so-called Shanghai Ranking) and the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE), is one of the most prestigious and widely commented on international university rankings. It is prepared by the British company Quacquarelli Symmonds.
The QS Ranking evaluates mainly: academic reputation, employer reputation, academic teachers to students ratio, citations, and internationalization.
