Information on accreditations confirming the quality of education granted to Lodz University of Technology.

The rules applicable to programme evaluation procedures initiated after 1 October 2018

Grading scale:

An important novelty compared to the previously used four-level scale. The current scale is two-level (no distinguishing mark). The program evaluation ends with positive or negative evaluation.

The Presiding Body of the Polish Accreditation Committee issues:

  1. positive programme evaluation for a period of 6 years, if all detailed criteria of programme evaluation are fulfilled and the opinion of the Team or the Team for Teacher Training contains at most recommendations indicating new possibilities of improving the quality of education;
  2. positive programme evaluation for a period of up to 2 years if at least one specific criterion of the programme evaluation is partially fulfilled and the opinion of the Team or the Team for Teacher Training includes recommendations of a corrective nature, indicating the necessity of immediate elimination of errors and non-conformities as well as taking effective preventive measures, while these recommendations can be implemented within a maximum period of 2 years.

The Presiding Body issues negative evaluation if:

  1. at least one specific criterion of the programme evaluation is not fulfilled because errors and shortcomings related to the scope of assessment in this criterion are critical for ensuring the quality of education, are of permanent nature and it is not possible to remove them within a period of maximum 2 years;
  2. the subsequent assessment procedure reveals that the university has not implemented the recommendations;
  3. the university makes it impossible or difficult to conduct programme evaluation.

The Certificates of Educational Excellence granted by the Presiding Body of the Polish Accreditation Committee have been introduced. They are a confirmation of achieving an outstanding level of education at a given field of study of a specific level and profile. They are awarded in the following categories:

  1. Excellent field of study– excellence in education in a given field of study;
  2. Always for the student – excellence in supporting student development;
  3. Open to the world – excellence in international cooperation;
  4. Partner for development – excellence in cooperation with the social and economic environment.

The Certificate of Excellence in Education in a given category may be awarded to a university running a field of study, which has received positive programme evaluation for 6 years, supported by good practices in education quality or documented, regular achievements of students and graduates (up to 5 years after studies) as well as recommendation of the distinction and justification in the report of the evaluation team.
