TUL and german university join forces in projects

The two-day visit (12-13 September) of the representatives of TUL's authorities - prof. Sławomir Wiak, TUL's Rector and prof. Ireneusz Zbiciński, TUL's Vice Rector for Science - to Germany strengthened the existing relations between TUL and Technical University in Dortmund (TUD).

On 12 September, in the presence of Svenja Schulze, North Rhine-Westphalia minister of science, a cooperation agreement was signed. The German university was represented by prof. Ursula Gather, doctor honoris causa of Lodz University of Technology, TUD's Rector. The relations between the two institutions formally date back to 2011. The universities are involved in joint projects, however, researchers of the Faculty of Process and Environmental Engineering are particularly active.

During their visit to Dortmund, the Rectors of Lodz University of Technology also had the opportunity to learn about the activities of the TUD Project Office which is involved in the promotion of research results and knowledge transfer. Having returned to Lodz, prof. I. Zbiciński said: "I have been extremely impressed with the effectiveness of the Office and with the extent of the support it offers to scientists in applying for funds from various sources".

In 2014, the two universities signed an agreement in which the procedures for the joint doctoral degree were laid down. The current agreement expands upon these. The Polish and the German parties are convinced that there are many research projects for the EU financing of which the two institutions could jointly apply.

The Polish delegates also had an opportunity to meet the participants of the Polish-German project INVITES. TUL's Faculty of Process and Environmental Engineering is a partner in the project.
