All Polish students and staff of the TUL have social block insurance which gives them right to free of charge medical and are also provided with a discount on medicines prescribed by a physician. B s.c./ M. s. c./doctoral students until the 26th year of age are insured with their parents. After this time, they should inform the University about their will to be insured via the University, if there is no other possibility, e. g. at their workplace. According to the legal regulations, higher education institutions and research units where there are doctoral students, register for insurance, and cover the costs for the following persons: 1) B. s. c./M. s.c./doctoral students, when the above mentioned declare the lack of any other insurance; 2) Foreign students of all degrees who study in Poland and are regarded as persons with Polish origins, in accordance with respective legal regulations, who have no insurance obligation elsewhere and declare the lack of other insurance. At the same time, the mentioned institutions and units are discharged from the duty to provide health insurance for a student of any degree, who have the status of the insured person’s family member, understood as: one’s own child, the child of a spouse, adopted child, grandchild or a child from beyond the family under one’s care, a child raised in foster family, until they are 18 years of age; if they pursue further education – until the age of 26, while in case they hold a medical certificate confirming grave disability – without age limit. - A spouse. - Relations, remaining within one household with the insured.
The declaration, along with a proper ZUS form, after the Dean’s Office approval, should be submitted at Skorupki 10/12, building B3, floor 1, room 1. Documents are accepted until the 7th day of given month. Please, bear in mind that the University should be informed about the circumstances, which might cause the termination of the obligation to cover the insurance costs by TUL, such as taking up work, leaving the University, or the possibility to benefit from the spouse’s insurance policy. Foreign students from EU countries studying at TUL in the frame of bilateral agreements of the Socrates/Erasmus Programme are obliged to verify before coming to Poland if their insurance is valid in our country and – if not – to procure themselves with a medical insurance. Every foreign student is obliged to have health insurance valid on the territory of Poland, for their stay to remain legal. In case advice is needed, we try to assist students individually. Students with attested Polish origin, or with double citizenship, are insured by the Technical University of Lodz, in accordance with Ministry regulations, until they graduate, marry or take up work, which would mean that they are no longer dependant on TUL insurance. Foreign students from non EU countries who are realizing part of their studies at TUL are obliged to procure themselves with a proper medical and accident insurance before coming to Poland. Foreign students from non EU countries studying in Polish on regular full-time studies can be insured at the National Health Fund (Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia) and benefit from free medical and dental care.
