TUL’s
students are very active and participate in many organizations: Academic Sport
Association, Academic Tourist Club, Academic Sailing Club and faculties’ clubs
and associations.
We can not
forget the students’ radio station “Żak”. It exists since 1959 and received a
state license in 1969. Students run the radio without any remuneration. A lot
of famous journalists begun their careers in “Żak”.
Student
Union and Academic Tourist Club with the support of the radio Żak and of course
the University every year organize the festival of tourist and student songs
YAPA. It is one of the most important festivals of this kind in Poland. A lot
of artists performing songs about mountains, tramping and students’ life began
their careers taking part in that festival.
TUL’s
students can spend their time in few student clubs where they can dance and
relax, and also take part in some games and competitions.
TUL has
even his own cinema. The movies you can watch there are rather non commercial.
Also the
City offers students a lot of attractions: cinemas (including multiplex,
cinemas Cytryna and Charlie for connesseurs), theatres (Great Theatre – opera
and ballet and Music Theatre – operettas), museums (Museum of Modern Art, Museum
of Textile Industry and Museum of the Lodz City’s History in authentic Palace
of Izrael Poznanski), monuments (monumental complex of factory premises and
residential buildings called Ksiezy Mlyn, the greatest in Europe, unique Jewish
cemetery), sport premises (ice-rink, swimming pools and aquaparks, tennis
courts, foodball pitchs…), open-air events, music clubs and pubs.
