Students’ training is an integral part of the educational process, included in the obligatory curriculum. The training period depends on the tuition level and the field of studies, as described in the educational standards. Most often, four weeks of training are mandatory. Usually, it is carried out during holidays, however, if it does not collide with the courses’ schedule, a student may receive permission to undergo their training throughout the academic year. Students’ training is subject to credits, which are necessary to complete the exam session and later graduate from the University.
The condition necessary to receive credits is successful performance of the tasks described in the training programme. The following documents need to be submitted by the student to the training supervisor:
- Training certificate or employment certificate from the place of training; - Report from the training.
The basic requirement for receiving final credits is the report approval, confirmed by the Plenipotentiary for Students’ Training. Students may carry out their training both within the country and abroad. Apart from typical vocational practice, students may participate in the IAESTE exchange training, carried out with Russia and Ukraine, and in the training within the Erasmus exchange programme. Exchange training lasts for 2 weeks and is acknowledged as part of the mandatory vocational practice. The Erasmus programme gives the opportunity for the students who have completed at least the second year of their studies, to undergo training in one of the European countries. It may last from 3 to 12 months within one academic year. It may be carried our both within the mandatory limit included in the training programme, or as an addition to the obligatory period. If given training is an integral part of the study programme, and the student fulfills the requirements, the training period is acknowledged and regarded as equal to its counterpart completed in Poland. If the training is not mandatory, the student would rcceive ECTS points. IAESTE is an international programme coordinating students’ training within technical areas. Within the confines of this programme, students may be trained in a foreign company or university, in one of the IAESTE member states. This training is paid and lasts from 6 to 12 months. The training supervisor’s approval is a condition necessary for the IAESTE training to be regarded as a vocational one. The Career Centre was established in February 2003 by the TUL authorities.
