* Procedure of mobility period recognition Documents needed to recognize a mobility period: Before mobility period:
- Application form of the Technical University of Lodz submitted to the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs in order to obtain approval for a mobility period (signed by Vice-Dean for Student Affairs of appriopriate Faculty) - Learning Agreement (signed by Vice-Dean for Student Affairs and coordinator of exchange with a partner institution) - Application Form - Transcript of Records (a list of subjects in a foreign language confirmed by authorized employee of appriopriate Dean Office)
During mobility period: In case of implementing changes to the study programme: - Changes to Learning Agreement (signed by tutor and coordinator of student from partner institution as well as Vice-Dean for Student Affairs and coordinator of exchange from home university) After mobility period the following documents should be submitted: Within 30 days after termination of a period for which the grant was awarded: - Transcript of Records received from host university with grades received and ECTS points to Dean Office of appropriate Faculty,
- Confirmation document of mobility period or Transcript of Records received from partner institution to the International Relations Office. Proceedings: - the Dean recognizes mobility period on the basis of grades received in a partner institution (ECTS points) if: · student obtains 30 credits per semester · student obtains 60 credits per year - If conditions are not satisfied, depending on number of grades received, student receives conditional approval or repeats a semester. In case of conditional approval, Dean sets a supplementary subject. - The original of Transcript of Records is kept in student documents, yet a notified copy is given to student. The document is the basis for recognition of mobility period and a student grant. - If the programme of studies realized by student abroad does not contain subjects from education standards (minimum curriculum requirements), expected to realize in the semester which is a mobility period, Dean is obliged to specify rules of completion of subjects after mobility period. Arrangements referring method and date of completion of subjects within minimum curriculum requirements are defined before mobility period. - Grades and student points received abroad are inscribed into a student credit book and a university registration system (SID system) according to the following: - original name of subject, - name of subject in English, - name of subject in Polish, - grade and ECTS points, - grade compatible with rules of studies of the Technical University of Lodz. On the basis of data inscribed, SID system calculates average of grades that is transferred to appriopriate student charter.
After mobility period, Dean submits a document providing “proof of recognition”to the Student Affairs Office. The document includes information about recognising or not recognising mobility period.
* Allocation procedure of ECTS points in study programmes realized at the Technical University of Lodz
The allocation procedure of ECTS points to course units of study programmes is based on evaluation of common student workload required to achieve assumed learning outcomes.
The overall number of points attached to study programmes of first-cycle studies is 180/210 /240 points, second-cycle programs is respectively 120/90/60 points and 300 points for fading out pre-Bologna uniform programs. As far as first-cycle programs and fading out pre-Bologna uniform programs are concerned, points are distributed through particular areas of education: general, basic, subject, specialist, complementary. As far as second-cycle studies are concerned, points are distributed through particular areas of education: basic, subject, specialist, complementary. The areas of education and credits allocated result from competences to be acquired which a graduate of particular area and level of study should possess. Subjects of study programmes are defined within areas of education mentioned above.
Learning outcomes such as skills and competences, content and forms of courses (lectures, courses, laboratories, projects and seminars) and estimated overall student workload (measured by ECTS points) are defined for each subject. The student overall workload consists of contact hours at university and estimated individual work hours. If it is needed, division of subject is implemented into two or more semesters (mathematics is an example). In those cases separate number of points is assigned to course units conducted in different semesters. The division of subjects into particular semesters is implemented according to the following rules: - Student workload on particular semesters should be balanced. A number of points of each semester should amount to quotient of overall number of points of particular study program and number of study semesters. The number of points amount to 30 credits for full-time studies and from 20 to 25 credits for extramural studies. - Rule of logical sequence of subjects in the following semesters has to be observed The procedure is performed by the Head of particular study program, after being accepted by Dean of particular Faculty who takes into consideration an opinion of Faculty Teaching Commission. The study program is approved by Faculty Board and submits to the Vice-Rector for Education Affairs. As the allocation of points is based on overall student workload, it is necessary to verify the estimated student workload by student survey. If the estimated student workload diverges from student grades, the reasons for differences have to be analyzed and as a result modification of study programmes should be suggested as well as subjects should be rearranged in particular semesters.
